To Blog or Not To Blog?

To Blog or Not To Blog?

Author's Hustle, Felicia's News

So for some time now (years actually), I've neglected my blog. See I used to blog all the time when I had the humble little blog I started in 2005 over at Blogger. Granted, I was never daily with it.

But now I'm hardly even monthly. Pathetic.

Or is it? Just read this article about teens moving away from writing and reading blogs to even more immediate forms of media. Remember when blogging was immediate?

But this isn't to say that blogging is going to go the way of cassette tapes. Not yet at least.

And although teens are part of my audience for some of my work like PATTERSON HEIGHTS, I also create for a slightly older crowd.

For me, blogging seemed to become so time consuming. Well, not completely true. I found myself running book blogs at AOL Black Voices and most recently The Root (bad news: all blogs at the site have been suspended due to economic reasons).

So I neglected my own blog space. What would Oprah say about that?

I've been going back and forth about the benefits of blogging versus the time, etc. But recently, I've decided that I DO want to blog consistently again. But differently and perhaps more strategically and well because I actually do enjoy it. I think enjoyment is still relevant.

So I'll be making an effort to start blogging again here about creative stuff, personal stuff, and stuff in between.

Blogging is changing and I'm trying to keep up.

Results forthcoming.

I hear you on blogging. I have a blog at blogspot.com and haven't updated it since Obama was a senator. I'm trying to change that, though! :)
