HAPPY BIRTHDAY to THE MESSAGE!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MESSAGE!
That's right! THE MESSAGE turns two this month.
I still remember the first day I held it in my hands. I wanted to cry, but couldn't. I had to hurry to the Baltimore Book Festival.
I did eventually cry. Then set out to share it with the world.
What a journey it's been. Even with my past experience helping authors promote their work, I had no idea what kind of emotional rollercoaster it can be.
I've had people question why I wrote such a "small" book as opposed to, I guess, a "big" market book. I've received countless emails from grown men who told me that my words inspired me. They actually thanked me for writing it.
I've questioned when one should break up with their book. I've created an educational curriculum based on the books that's been used by schools.
I've been asked about the book's sales and subjected to other people's definitions of success. I've had young people tell me that my book was the first that they've read all the way through.
Through it all, I've learned a lot. Don't let others tell you that your baby is too old, too slow, too different, too ______.
THE MESSAGE continues to grow and meet new people and I continue to nourish it. Feel me?
After only about 730 days on Earth, THE MESSAGE has been:
+Has been used at educational institutions like Bucknell University, New York University, and the SEED School of DC.
+A way for me to provide programming for hundreds of teens.
+A way for me to give talks and presentations at venues like Howard University, George Mason University, Philander Smith College, United Nations Association, Children's Village, and countless others.
+A way for me to meet wonderful people of all ages who have inspired me.
So I celebrate THE MESSAGE's second birthday and look forward to many more.

@Phillip: Thanks so much for your kind words!
Congratulations on the milestone. The Message has a home here on my coffee table after traveling with me to three different continents and five different countries.
Wish you much success.
