Education, Events, News
Join libraries around the country in celebrating this year's Teen Read Week.
The 2008 theme is "Books with Bite @ your library!
Teen Read Week™ is a national literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association aimed at teens, their parents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others who share a love for word. Teen Read Week aims to remind teens that reading is fun, free, and can be done anywhere, anytime. Librarians will be promoting a variety of books-from vampire stories to cooking to technology--as a tool to get young adults to read for the fun.
There are events, book signings, author readings, contests and promotions going on at libraries and schools all across the country. For more information on events happening in your area visit your local library's website.
Celebrate this year's Teen Read Week by encouraging your middle or high school students to:
* Join a book discussion group at their school or public library.
* Read biographies of their favorite musicians, comedians, politicians, or sports figure.
* Read books about a hobby that interests.
* Read books that approach a subject through humor.
* Read what they want to read, just for the fun of it.

Here's what we're doing:
Celebrating Words Year Round!!!
BackList believes that a love for words should be promoted year round, which is why we are constantly in the think tank trying to develop new and engaging ways to reach out to educators and today's youth.
Over the past few months, we have created two phenomenal initiatives for educators and youth providers:
1) THE BRIDGE IS OVER is an innovative new resource for educators and youth providers that's filled with valuable tools and information for engaging young people. Click here for more information.
2) SOUNDTRACKS is an interdisciplinary enrichment program that uses music as a hook to promote reading, writing, critical thinking and vital life skills. Click here for more information.
