Sleep? Who Needs it?

I do. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my sleep. I'm a daytime napper and one who happily submits to tiredness whenever the mood hits. But this affinity for sleep doesn't align well with the book promotion grind. This was a big week for THE MESSAGE. Thus, a sister is craving sleep like a pregnant woman for pickles. Right now, I'm running off of excitement, continued anxiety, and a need to keep the momentum machine turning. I can't reiterate, it's been a big week:

Friday: Interview with Strictly Hip-Hop, iconic hip-hop show here in Baltimore that airs on Morgan's WEAA 88.9 FM station. Went very well!

Saturday: Shot to DC and did For Sister's Only. Tiring. Didn't sell many books, but passed out a whole bunch of postcards. Moms was representing stepping in folks paths and making sure they got a postcard. What would I do without her?

Saturday night: Baltimore launch party for THE MESSAGE. Very pleased with how the event turned out. Shoot, ya'll know how nerve-racking planning an event can be. Will folks show up? Will they enjoy themselves? Will everything go as planned? Full report coming soon, including a video clip of me performing "Passing Me Bye." Yes your girl got on the mic and freaked some hip-hop karaoke.

Saturday late night: Leave launch party for a few minutes to be interviewed on The Money, Power, and Respect Report which airs on Chicago's WVON. Interview went well and THE MESSAGE was the topic of discussion for the show's roundtable segment. Nice. Headed back to the party and stay until everyone leaves. Then get 3:00 in the morning pizza (doesn't it taste exceptional at this hour when you're hungry).

Sunday: Trying to recoup from less than five hours of sleep (I am at full capacity when I get eight hours). Go to Target and pick up the December issues of VIBE and SISTER 2 SISTER magazine where THE MESSAGE is featured in their holiday gift guides. That's right ya'll THE MESSAGE is being hailed as a great gift.

*Vibe chose it as one of its VPicks and holiday reading gift selection.
*Sister 2 Sister included THE MESSAGE in its "15 Things You Need on Your Christmas List" feature. The magazine encourages you to cop THE MESSAGE for all your friends ""Because it'll remind you of why you fell in love with hip-hop"

Head to your local bookstore or sit at home and hit up an online bookseller, cop several copies of THE MESSAGE and complete all of your holiday shopping in less than five minutes. Priceless.

Me? Still haven't caught up on sleep. I'll probably do that in 2009 sometime.

Until then, the hustle continues...
