BackList Speaks
BackList develops and provides innovative, engaging, and educational programming for both youth and adult audiences. We facilitate writing, publishing, and creative workshops, seminars, discussions, and lectures for schools (elementary, middle, and high school), after school initiatives, summer camps, universities, organizations and other entities. Programming is designed and customized based on specific needs and preferences.
We've:
- Facilitated a six-week creative writing workshop at the SEED School of DC. The high school participants had their work included in a print anthology that they named The Young & Unique
- Facilitated SOUNDTRACKS, workshops that use music as a hook at nearly every branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library
- Provided interactive enrichment workshops to middle and high schools around the country
- Facilitated trainings about culturally-responsive engagement to librarians and college professors
- Acted as dynamic keynote speakers at universities and other educational institutions
- Sat on a ton of panels on topics ranging from hip-hop to connoisseurship
Our speakers/workshop facilitators include:
- Felicia Pride, our founder, who specializes in media, pop culture, hip-hop, literacy, entertainment, writing, and entrepreneurship
- Annie Gordon, who specializes in education, leadership, and teaching
