THE CORNER BOOK CLUB

CGraphic (3).jpgBackList is the editorial partner for THE CORNER, an online book club started by Common Ground Foundation.

THE CORNER is national online book club for 8-12th graders. Youth are able to discuss books with their peers, grow an appreciation for reading, and get exposed to the multitude of wonderful literary offerings for their age group.

Monthly book club selections have included: YES WE CAN: A BIOGRAPHY OF BARACK OBAMA by Garen Thomas, THE COLOR OF WATER by James McBride, THE ALCHEMIST by Paulo Coelho, and STREET LOVE by Walter Dean Myers. At the end of each month, we host an author chat.

We encourage you to have your young people join THE CORNER by registering at http://www.commongroundfoundation.org/thecorner.html. Registration is free and gives them access to another great way to harness the power of words and join the literary discussion!

And you can join the newsletter that we're developing for parents, educators, and librarians that will keep you posted on things surrounding THE CORNER. Visit today!

Lastly, this summer, Common Ground will be sponsoring an essay contest, which will give young people another opportunity to express themselves and for the chance to win a scholarship! Stay tuned!
